Leadership

A leader invites. He asks you to join. He works to create a story you can share together. A leader knows everyone grows together when everyone is given space to grow. A leader seeks what is best for others when it might cost them personally. A leader forgives mistakes and rejoices in wins. A leader accepts your differences and understands you’re stronger because you are unique.

A leader does not harass or punish or coerce. A leader does not act like a king or tyrant or bully. A leader is not given to fits of rage and abuse. A leader does not blame others for his faults. A leader does not hate those who he leads. A leader does not claim he has special knowledge from authority to shape you into something you are not. A leader does not try to conform a human being into an ideal being.
Replace Leader with Husband. Too many husbands in the church try to be the the type of leader in the 1st paragraph but become the leader in the 2nd paragraph. Stop using God to justify your abusive behavior to your wife and children. You ought to be condemned by the church for your abuse and God will judge you. You destroy the witness of the church to your family and to your children, possibly cutting off multiple generations from salvation. If you are the leader/husband in the second paragraph, you are a curse to your wife and family and you are outside the love and will of God.
